Climbing the Mountain: Meeting God on the Journey

There’s just something powerful about mountains. In the Bible, big things happened when people went up to meet with God—Moses got the Ten Commandments, Elijah heard God’s whisper, and Jesus was transfigured in front of His friends. Those mountain moments weren’t just about elevation; they were about transformation.

That’s a lot like what happens in missions.

When we step out in faith—whether it’s traveling across the world or just across the street—it can feel like a tough climb. It’s not always easy. You’re stretched, challenged, and sometimes way out of your comfort zone. But on that climb, we often meet God in new and powerful ways.

In missions, you start to see God’s heart up close—in the eyes of a child, in the joy of a worship service in another language, or in quiet moments when everything feels overwhelming and He reminds you He’s right there. These aren’t just trips—they’re encounters.

And like the disciples who came down the mountain with Jesus, we don’t stay there. That mountaintop moment is meant to send us back into the world changed, fired up, and ready to love people like Jesus does.

So whether you’re packing a bag, supporting someone who is, or just praying from your kitchen table—you’re part of the climb. You’re part of the mission. And God meets all of us somewhere on that mountain.

Keep climbing. Keep trusting. He’s already there, waiting
